Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Along with similar technologies such as localStorage, they let a site remember your choices, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. This policy explains which categories of cookies Metaphysical Events uses and how you can control them.
Consent Categories
When you first visit, a banner asks for your cookie preferences. You can accept all, reject everything non-essential, or customize your choices by category. The categories are:
- Essential — required for the Platform to function: signing in, keeping your session secure, remembering your consent choices, and basic security. These are always on and cannot be disabled, because the site cannot work without them.
- Analytics — help us understand how the Platform is used (which pages are visited, in aggregate) so we can improve it. These are off until you opt in.
- Marketing — used to measure and tailor promotional content and campaigns. These are off until you opt in.
How Your Choices Are Stored
We record your consent choices client-side only — we do not store them in our database. Your selection is saved in a first-party cookie named me_consent (set with path=/, SameSite=Lax, and an expiry of roughly twelve months) and mirrored in your browser's localStorage. The stored record notes whether you allowed Analytics and Marketing (Essential is always recorded as on), when you decided, and a policy version number. If we materially change our cookie practices, we increment that version so the banner re-appears and asks you to confirm your choices again.
Changing or Withdrawing Your Consent
You can change your choices at any time — including withdrawing consent for Analytics or Marketing — from the cookie preferences in your account settings. Reopening the preferences shows your current selections; saving new ones updates the me_consent record immediately. You can also clear cookies and site data through your browser settings, which will cause the consent banner to appear again on your next visit.
Third-Party Cookies
Some features rely on third-party services (for example, our payment provider during checkout). Those providers may set their own cookies governed by their respective policies. See our Privacy Policy for the processors we work with.
